Hi
The pumps don't pump much on cracking, there is a pressure control soleniod on the pump that could also be at fault but both over £350. Injector are the most common so I advice start with testing them.

yes if lots of fuel is coming just out of the top of 1 injector then most likely that's your fault.

I will check this evening for the injectors. If there is a pressure solenoid then if i conect my circuit tester to the wire that goes to the injector and on cranking i get a current i can also state that the solenoid is working and there is sufficient pressure. if there is no signal coming down then the pressure is not up tp actuating the solenoid or the solenoid is u/s?

You will get nothing on the injector circuit till the fuel pressure is up. no too sure what you are asking.

Thumbs down injectors

Merlin,
I did the injector test, no fuel leakage at all. i was really hoping that would be the problem. so it will be a new injector pump.

Hi
Next can you pull off the return pipe off the rail and just make sure no fuel is coming out of the rail when you crank it over. it's a small pipe like the ones on the injectors.

ok, tonday l have rechecked the injectors aren't leaking - all fine. the out flow pipe that runs from the end of the common rail also checked, no flow from there either. Any more pointers?

Hi
No from the tests you have done looks like the pump or the control valve on the pump is at fault.

Thumbs down can't wait

Melin,
Thanks for this i can't wait to get started on the job. i will get the tippex out and will be away!!! fortunately i have the cam belt exposed already. i will see if i can find a used pump on ebay. I take it the control valve is integral to the pump?
