the control valve you can see and remove very easy as it's just too screws and the electrical plug. could be an idea to swap that over first if you are getting a complete pump off e bay as it will save disturbing the belt (you make my cringe with the word tippex, lol). We call it a prop valve if you are doing a search.

Merlin,
is there a flywheel lock up hole? some cars i have done you can put a dowal through a hole and it locks the fly wheel up?

is this pump common with anything else? jeep 2.8 crd?

should be the same pump as the jeep would have to check with parts to be sure. There is a locking pin but there is also a mark on the bottom gear. Don't go by the marks on the top gears as they don't line up with anything. The top gears are free wheeling so don't loosen the bolts.

Sourced the parts yesterday and they should be here today. Merlin, is there also a lock up facility on the cam shafts?

yes there are blanking plugs on each cam shaft cover at the front

nearly finnished now.

will the car start before i refit the auxillary belt and all of the airbox stuff?
