We got our first Voyager for a family trip to France (from England). We had an almost identical 3.3 1998 as in your video. The idea was to buy the car, and sell it when we got back.

We fell in love with it, and it stated with us for 4 years. It has now been replaced with a 2006 2.8 Diesel.

Great vid, thanks for the 3.3 memories.

Hi dewar,
Thank You for Your comment.
I have a question to You.
How do You like this newer version of Voyager? Do You see any differences in regards to quality of used materials and overall quality of this newer car?
And also how feel driving the Diesel after that petrol engine?

Thank You for Your reply

Hi Tomas,

There are lots of differences, some small, some quite major.

The old one was what they call a short-wheelbase (Voyager) version, and was fine for small people in the back row, but it was a little cramped. The new one is a long-wheelbase (Grand Voyager) and is 16 inched (405mm) longer. This gives much more room. This is probably the most important change for us, as we can now seat 7 comfortably, and still have lots of room in the boot.

The small differences like the head-light-switch not being illuminated seem odd, and a step backwards.

On the whole though, it is a much better car, with lots of toys. We have the stow-and-go seats, which fold flat into the floor. We always had the problem of where to store the seats (which had to be removed) in the old one.

The quality is still there, everything seems robust. We do have a couple of things we need to sort (one of the electric doors does not work) but there are known fixes for these.

The diesel is supposed to be very slightly quicker than the old petrol (0-60 in 12.0 rather than 12.2) but I would say it is slower. It does do a whole lot better on fuel though. we averaged 22 MPG on the 3.3 petrol, and early signs are 34 MPG on the diesel.

As expected, the 4 pot diesel is noisier than the 6 pot petrol, but it is not a problem.

For an 11 year old car, it was cheap, and has lots of toys. This makes it great value.

Hope this helps,
