Angry Completely at a loss

I bought a 2002 Caravan Ec used. Since day 1 with it, the abs light, brake light, and traction control light have been on. Looking at the build sheet, this vehicle never came equipped with those options. Looking at the van closely, there are NO abs components of any type anywhere. The plot thickens. After driving for about 20 minutes or so, the transmission will start to keep downshifting into second gear and stalling at lights. I had the transmission replaced at Aamco 3 months ago and for the first 2 months, it drove great (yes. the abs and brake lights were still on). No check engine light has come on and there are no codes found using an OBD2 reader.

Sounds like you have two problems.

> Lights - TSB 08-009-02 REV A dated Aug 26, 2002 concerns your identical problem. A dealership will connect a DRB scanner and reload the instrument cluster software. I'd guess around $100.

> Transmission - Sounds like it's going into "limp mode". It's a safety feature limiting gears to 1st 2nd and reverse when a fault is detected. Since your standard scanner isn't picking up any codes you may get results with a DRB scanner at your dealership. It will read transmission specific codes stored in the Transmission Control Module (TCM). A standard scanner can't read them. Aamco should have the same type scanner. . I would hope the tranny is still under an Aamco warranty.
