Cracked ac condensor/pump casing???
Hi everyone
Ref: Chrysler Voyager CRD 2.5 Diesel
Two years ago, my AC fluid (R134a) was topped up as it had emptied. At the time, I put in some dye and some AC StopLeak type additive as I was keen to find the source of the leak and if small, close it off. A few weeks ago the AC stopped cooling and so this morning, I had a look in the engine bay.
I found a lot of UV dye near the compressor/ air con pump - see photos. If you see the zoomed in picture, there seems to be a crack in the casing - right where the pulley/clutch assembly joins the main pump body.
Questions:
1. has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? would you agree it's a crack?
2. if it turns out that the casing is not cracked, it means the fluid is leaking from the seal. Can the compressor be resealed in this case or does it need to be replaced? The compressor is supposed to be a Nippondenso 10S20.
Many thanks in advance for any thoughts. kkc.
