Default Crankshaft Sensor

I have to replace my crankshaft sensor and I unscrewed the one that is in there, but cannot get it out?
The bracket for the Alt is in the way, is there a certian way to remove this, without taking everything apart?
I have a 1997 3.8 T & C
Thanks for any help

here is what happens, I can be driving and it will just die, sometimes I can pop it un N and restart it and it will go, sometimes I need to stop and restart it
sometimes it will do it when i stop aty a stop sign, but i guess according to the codes the mechanic said i needed the crankshaft one

ok the crank shaft sensor is on the tranny on the driver side below and behind the intake. here is a pic. Make sure u have a green dot spacer on the sensor head or u will not get teh correct clearence and snap the sensor or make it not read right and no start.
