Default Door locks when handle is pulled.

The driver side door of our 2002 Town & Country just started doing this. When you use the remote and unlock the door, the door locks when you grasp the external handle and pull to open the door. You have to unlock it a few times with the remote before it will open. Any suggestions on a fix? Does it have anything to do with the battery being disconnected?
Thanks, John

I've never heard of the 'door handle' thing, but .. ..

- disconnect the batter for 5 minutes, your FOB and car are now divorced .. .. then reconnect the battery
- your battery and FOB are now acrimoniously divorced and won't speak to each other

- turn the key to the start POS but do not START the engine
- - - the PUTER will read all BUS's and door locks, do all checks, you will hear lots of clicks

- when the checks stop lock and unlock the doors FROM the FOB several times
- - - this will re-marry the KEYFOB and the PUTER

- start the car, while it warms up re-set the missing settings from the radio and the roof display
- stop the engine and lock in the usual way with the KEYFOB - does it work now ?

NOTE01 : an afterthought - when you think you have locked and alarmed etc the vehicle you / it hasn't finished. The vehicle polls the computer BUS for 15 minutes checking windows / doors / radio and lights left on etc. Only then is the alarm function fully functioning.

NOTE02 : the internal 'panic lock' button - seems, when used, to be a bit of a spurned lover who still has designs on your marrige and will, given an opportunity disrupt communication between the keyFOB and the cars protection system.
