Default Driver side rear window

Probably a very stupid question, can anybody tell me why on the Voyager Executive CRD (UKSpec) the driver side rear window is heated (the one that opens a couple of inches). I have had the car for around 2.5 years and only noticed it the other day whilst washing it.

Regards

Maybe the window got smashed sometime in the past and a handy replacement had the heater fitted for another country but otherwise was a physical fit?

I bump this thread as I have the same question. I have a 2012 Lancia Voyager Gold Edition and I also found that the third row right hand side window (vent window) has a heater / defroster. There is no heater on the corresponding left window. Turning on the defroster for the rear window and side mirrors does not work for the side window heater.

Any idea on how to turn on the side window heater?

I think these might be radio reception ariels rather than heaters?

Thanks for the tip, that is a possible answer. But why would an antenna for the FM band be a waveform filling up the entire window? The optimal FM antenna would be a straight line of approx. 1m length.

I had another look at the window last night and I am pretty convinced it is an antenna for the GPS and/or radio. The conductor stuck to the window has two endpoints and does not form a closed circuit, which proves it is not a heating element.

It'll be microwave now. FM is usually a stubby little aerial outside with a field-effect transistor at bottom powered from the radio to amplify the 88 to 108MHz FM.
