Default Electric Door Fault

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago, I took the electric door wiring harness from my 51 plate Grand Voyager out of the car as the electric sliding door were not functioning. When the button is pressed, the door would pop open, but no sliding action. I found in the loom 1 bad wire (black/green), which has now been repaired, and put the loom back into the car.

The door was working absolutely great, until I left it and moved onto the other side. Then after about 30mins it stopped working again.

Yesterday, once again I removed the door loom from the car and ran a continuity test on every pin whilst flexing the wire at 180degree angles. Found no fault in the loom at all, every wire was perfect, so put the loom back into the car. Once it was back in, every press of the button, the door did as it was supposed to do, opening and closing every time, so once again considered the door repaired.

This morning, back out to the car, press the button, it pops open, but once again, no sliding action, manually open the door all the way, press the button and nothing.

Can someone PLEASE! give me an idea as to whats wrong.

Thankyou in advance

I am having almost the same problem - no bad wires, but strange actions. If I use the key fob to open the passenger side door, it pops open, but no sliding, I hit the key fob again, it closes. I hit it again, and it opens normally.....yet, if I use the overhead console button - it works fine?????!!!

Any thoughts on this one? 2006 T & C Touring, 60040 miles, USA, Gas

Thanks!!!

You may have faults logged in the BCM which may elude to your problem. Does it play up like this when using all switches including the key fob? Maybe a battery disconnect for 30 mins might help.

Does this only happen with one specific side or both? If the battery disconnect doesn't work there maybe a hardware fault with the actual motor if the wiring is definitely all good.

On mine its just the O/S, Right Door, when opened electrically, it un latches but wont roll back, then if open and you try to shut it electrically it will roll forwards but wont shut, I can hear what sounds like a relay clicking for about 10 seconds from the door? If you take over to manually shut/open there is resistance I presume from the motor? This only occurs when you have tried to open it electrically, if you open as a normal door it is OK. I am starting to suspect the multi pin connector on the Door?

This is unbeleivable! Messing around with the door - letting it set overnight - then opening manually, I heard a sound like the door was actually 'tearing' itself from the weatherstriping........upon closer inspection, I found what looks like pop/soda had been spilled - not on carpeted area, but the floor plate along the edge of the floor where the door ends up when it is closed......by getting under the edge of the car and looking closly at the bottom section of the door where it meets up with the weatherstriping when closed , I saw and felt sticky residue (from pop/soda spill?). Washed it off, and problem seems to be resolved.......who woulda thunk it??!!
