Default Fuel pump 3.3

Hi guys, today my 2003 3.3 voyager refused to start, i couldnt hear the fuel pump but after banging on the tank it started to run again and has been fine since.

Are the fuel pumps a common problem on the 3.3 ????

Thanks

Common? About as common as any other vehicle especially as they age. 3.3 and 3.8 use the same pump.

From my own experience these pumps do appear to fail on a regular basis. When I was in the US I was driving a friends 3.8 T&C and over its lifetime 217.000 miles) I replaced its pump 3 times. Same goes for my UK spec GV 3.3. Its had 2 pumps, 1 an original Chrysler dealer installed at 42.000 and the second after-market brand bought off ebay at around 100.000! Then at Christmas, one of my neighbours was complaining that he was having to have another new pump fitted to his 2001 3.3, so I would lean toward yes, it is common! However, before looking for a replacement I'd first check the electrical connections, just to be sure its not something as simple as a bad connector!
