Default electric rear sliding door issue

Hi one of the rear door on my grand voyager opens and closes fine electrically using the handle to start it, but it catches on trying to open off the key, it comes out a couple of inches but the catch at the back stops it opening further, could anyone tell me how i would go about adjusting this? it seems to me the actuator isnt pulling far enough to unlatch it, but i dont have a manual so cant see how it works without stripping the door down ...
cheers
Rick

Default Sliding door problem.

Your problem is probably not an adjustment type fix. There is a small motor in the latch assy that cinches the rear of the door in to the body when it closes. That part of the latch releases manually when you pull the handle but I believe it releases electrically when you use any of the buttons. Finding the cause of the electrical failure can be a challenge. A lot of electrical problems in those doors trace back to broken wires in the harness at the bottom of the door or a failure in the latch itself. There is also a small ECM (Electronic Control Module) in the door that can fail just to add to the fun. Search Chrysler sliding door problem on youtube for videos on what you're up against and instructions on how to access everything. Good luck with it. I've been chasing gremlins in mine for weeks with no luck.

I opened the door manually yesterday and a cable similar to tgat on a bicycle brake dangled out at the bottom .. on the unnatached end it has a spring and a white piece of plastic , so I am assuming this is my issue as it must be an actuator cable ....
I was at work so didn't have the opportunity to investigate further as to where it fits or what it is connected to...
Any clues welcome!

Maybe you got lucky. Sounds as though it will be a straightforward mechanical fix instead of chasing electrical problems. Check out youtube for how to get the door opened up to work on it.
What year is your van? A lot of stuff changed in the doors around 2008.
