Gearbox Solenoid Switch Pack - Test
Hi All,
Just had new auto gearbox fitted after a replacement solenoid switch pack didn't cure the limp mode problems we were having. The dealer has given me back the original part and said if I get it tested and it proves to work ok they will refund my money. Does anyone know if this part can be tested off the car?
Thanks
Mark

I don't know Mark, but if it can be tested I'd go to the service manual here and look for drive train or transmission diagnosis for your year of vehicle.Index of /pub/chrysler-dodge/manuals/Service Manuals
Best of luck.

You can test the electrical resistance and resistance to ground of the coils of the relay, not sure off the top of my head what the expected resistance would be though.
Testing the mechanical operation will be a bit more tricky. You can apply power to the solenoid coils and listen/watch for them operating, but this is not the same as them operating fully/correctly as when immersed in transmission fluid and holding back pressurized fluid.
Try taking it to a indie autobox specialist and explain what you need done. I doubt chrysler would accept just your word that it's working, they would want an engineers report
