Default Grand voyager automatic stalling-help!

hi
Hope someone can help! i have a 2005 grand voyager crd 2.8.automatic diesel
recently had it serviced and was running ok until last week- i had intermittent bumping and kangarooing in drive. yesterday and today it is worse and stalls at least 4 /5 times if i am stationary .
its fine in park, but does it in drive or reverse.
mechanic has it back today but i think he is stumped by the problem.

thanks
x

its back from the garage and it is the gearbox going
as he isnt a Chrysler mechanic he is reluctant to replace and the best he can offer is to part ex it.
does anyone have any idea how much a gearbox would be with fitting?

thanks

ok, now im going to ask another question! as this started after it was serviced, is it possible , looking through other posts that the correct oil wasnt used and the box is knackered.
Is it too late to flush and change to proper oil?

really confused now

- woody mate, you had a car in good nick
- until you had it serviced last week
- and now its goosed, and its not their fault !
- and you want to buy and fit a new box -

Invest some money and effort in getting to the truth my friend. Can I ask if the people who serviced it are the same muppets who know nothing of Chrysler's and don't know how to change the box, are the same gang who want to part-chop it for considerably less than bottom book ?

If you are UK waste some money on a main dealer's proper diagnosis then spend waste another £22 sticking them into a small claims court.

My advice, for what it's worthis first to check the gearbox oil, engine running, going thru the gears as per the manual while stationary and then check the level, you need to know how hot the gearbox is, there is a good thread on this site that explains it all.

the gearbox must have the correct oil. motar AT 4plus (I think) there are equivalents, again search the site for equivalents. unless you are certain I would always go for the dealer oil, I paid 45 pounds for 4 liters which was just enough.

hope this helps, please post how you get on.
