Default Handbrake Intermediate Cable.

Anybody replaced this cable. Have replaced left and right cables with the connector between right cable and intermediate being a bogger to uncouple probably due to rust.
The intermediate cable has a clamp that secures it to the chassis just off the above connector. This clamp is bolted to chassis but the through cable obstructs getting any spanner/socket onto it. Cable is lock nutted to clamp but access again impossible even with the rust on it.
Cutting off cable may be the only option then unbolt clamp and derust it.
Having problem finding new Intermediate cable.
There is one that looks right on fleebay under, Genuine QH Brake Cable Front for Chrysler Voyager 3.0, 2.5, etc. It certainly isn't a front one from handbrake. Ideal shape for Intermediate one but at £20 should I risk it.

Oh and Firstline has this cable at 1381mm, part FKB2369, and have checked its is same. Other cable sizes, LH/RH are correct per Firstline.

Wrong no its FKB2469.. But one site says this number for up to 2001 vehicles.
2004 Manual gives Intermediate cable as 4683 496AB.
Two numbers for left and right cables must be due to long and short wheel bases.

Pain in the backside this doesn't fit this but does.
Firstline FKB2469 does tally with 2004 Workshop Manual of 4683 286AD.

Thanks tfb will be adding my delema's and results to all handbrake cables, shoes, pads renewal, then adjusting system soon. May send out SOS if handbrake doesn't hold.

Looks like I must replace the cables too. Handbrake doe's not hold at all.
Are the cables different to each engine? And how about Stow and go (as I know the rear Abs sensors are different for Stow and go).

Your handbrake probably isn't holding because shoes are either needing replaced or adjustment between left and right shoes are out. For this handbrake to work and hold car on a hill for example the left and right shoes must be applying and pressurising the inner drum at the same time. The problem with this car is one brake cable is longer than the other so equal adjustment over left/right does not set the handbrake. only adjusting by setting one wheel to lockup on so many handbrake clicks then setting other to lockup on same set of clicks will work.
Do you have a parts manual for your car. See pics for up too 2004 model.

Andrips,

Handbrick is almost never cables and it comes after the letter Z in the list of things to do first. As Goggsy says its replacement parts & adjustment first. Plenty of handbrake posts, pics and even walk-through on this forum by Leedsman & others.

Having a look [20 minutes a wheel] inside the top-hat is the first and essential start point. Best of luck.
