Smile Hello, New to the T&C Chrysler World! So.. got ?'s

Hey Guys! Just bought my first chrysler product after 62 years. So... its a 2003 T&C and it aint pretty But hope to get lucky on the longevity of it. Think its been sitting around most of its life seeing it only has 107,000 on it and seems to have the usual or common problems that ive read about. OK, this might be a long read but here we go... to start its got a 3.8L. which seems to be leaking oil from the valve covers and maybe the pan also. Girl i bought it from said she always checked oil, but it was almost 3 quarts low and motor sounded fine! rear brakes making some racket. passenger swaybar link was just swaying! Has the compressor (im thinking) moan, and the smell of gas is there? So, im sure your wondering why the heck did i buy this thing, well it runs, shifts, stops, got good tires and cost 600 bucks. Its hard to believe it only has 107 on it! And ive always liked polishing a TURD! And glad you guys are here cause im gonna need some help! Ive put 3 quarts of oil in it and new filter and will run that for about 50 miles then drain and change again and have changed the bad or totally unhooked sway bar link which just let me know that the other needs changing, Pops And Knocks now which when it was unhooked neither side made noise? GO FIQURE! So.. like i said, im sure i will have plenty of questions, so any help on these problems and future ones will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ralph

Ask away plenty here to help.
The valve cover gaskets would be an issue being likely 20 plus years old. Just start out with one thing at a time if you doing V cover gaskets I would replace the plugs and wires while you are there. PCV valve and the hose im sure are brittle.

Thanks Kevin, yea. it has its share of brittle and dry rotted things and by the way, what do we call the 2 rubber strips on either side of the roof that run from the windshield to the lift gate? mine were peeled back 3/4 of the way and then tied in a 1/2 knot to the roof rack. And where is the best place to get those? Also my battery is about dead seeing that i had to charge it after leaving doors open when working on it. So.. was wondering if the T&C normally has problems with very slow or weak window motors? Was hoping it was the battery! or do i need to lube gears or something? Thanks, Ralph

rood seals or roof rubber liner I doubt you will find them easy as for the motors likely old and weak.
