Default LIMP HOME

Hi Guys,
I need help.

I have a 2001 chrysler grand voyager 2.5 crd manual. It has some gremlins in the electrics. the cruise control doesn't work, the drivers window doesn't always work and occassionally the tailgate lock opens and closes it self all of the time. These things i can live with. They started after it went in for some accident damage to be repaired last year. I believe that the body guys didn't take adequate precautions and welded the vehicle.

I am a pretty good amatuer mechanic. the car is serviced, however i didn't change the fuel filter last time. The garage did the previous service so i assume they did it. There has been no abnormalities in its driving, no noise, no smoke nothing detected.

today the engine attention light came on and it switched into limp mode.

Any thoughts?

merlin,
I gave the ignition key trick a try and i got the code P1130. I looked on the web and the code means "P1130 HO2S Circuit Low Variance Bank 1 Sensor 1"

What does this mean? is it the lamda sensor?

I tried the key trick before i read your last entry.

Wow didn’t think that worked on the CRD (good to know thanks), p1130 is fuel rail pressure malfunction and can be coursed by many things most common are injector leak back should be no more then 25 mm per injector over 1 minute any more the injector is faulty. We have pots that we put on the injectors but I suppose you could just use the return off all 4 and if you get more then 100mm (25 each) then you have an injector/s at fault. Other common is what we call the prop valve and that is the pressure control solenoid on the high-pressure pump, 3 screws and easy to change but is an expensive guess (but less then the pump). Other is the pressure relief on the rail; you will have a leak off pipe from the rail. Remove this pipe and make sure you have no fuel coming out of the rail at idle (you will get fuel from the pipe so block this if you wish).

THATS GREAT,
thanks. I will have a look. I bet that one of them little rubber pipes has perished. or maybe a bit of mucky diesel from the fuel filter that maybe wasn't changed?

what is the best way to identify if it isone of the injectors? i have access to basic mechanics tools no specialist kit.

if i fix it will the computer reset it's self?

thanks

crd = no little rubber pipes!!

ihave just found thisfrom Moe.

"there is an old tsb that states that if the code(p1130) is present that the fuel system has air in the line heres tsb# 18-802-01.as many times the lines have been open i would'nt be suprized.moe"

cant find the TSB but this gives me a good place to start looking

Hi
THat TSB will give you no help at all as it would bleed any air out on it's own on a good run. There are rubber hoses on top of the injectors held in by clips and connects all 4 injectors, so not sure why you can't see them.
