Default Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL)

This light has been coming on the last couple of days, but not every time I start the van. I've checked the van, but nothing seems out of place. What is the most common problem for this light to indicate? I have a 2010 van.

Default MIL light

Since that involves driving about 85 miles, I'm wondering if I should go that route. Maybe there are some things I could check at home.

Default Cold weather

More information. It's 2 degrees this morning. The van would not even turn over. I jump-started it with my Ram pickup. The MIL light went off. I drove around for about 15 minutes and it never came back on. Is a weak battery or a poor cable connection related to the MIL light? After warming up, I turned the engine off and then it restarted fine and the MIL light did not stay on.

Hi harrym,

The MIL and check engine lights can have many possible causes, so it may be difficult to pinpoint without having the code read. It's also possible a code may have been stored, so you may be able to have that checked. There are multiple flashes available for the 2010 T&C for the MIL being on, but unfortunately none are for the concerns you're describing. Your Chrysler dealership would be able to check and see what flashes may be available for your vehicle.

The problem was a faulty battery. I put in a new battery two days ago. MIL light went out. Engine starts immediately. Weather in the teens. So I hope that takes care of my problem.
