Play mp3 on "base" (RAZ) radio?

Will the base (code RAZ) radio (casette + CD) play mp3 files? I tried burning a CD-R with a small number of mp3s without directories, but the drive didn't like it. So ... am I doing something wrong, or will the radio not play mp3s?

What about the RPB designated radio? I have a chance to buy one. Will it play MP3's on burned disc?
