Default problem substituting 2.5L voyager 2003 engine

Hello. some months ago the engine of my voyager year 2003 2.5L diesel broke.
i like this car and want to repair so i bought another engine.
the mechanic is having big problems because after mouting it the electric test shows a fault and doesnt start.
he told me that the two engines are not identical in one detail. the connector to the tachometer sensor. one engin has 2 wires and the other has 3.

i wonder if somebody can help me with suggestions, infos or links about this issue.

thanx in advance
Giorgio
