Default A question

Mine is not a problem but a question. I have a 2006 T&C Touring with 3.8 V6 and stow & go seating.
As some of you know, the mini spare is nested in a molded plastic housing and carried beneath the forward floorboard almost directly under the driver and passenger seats.
My question is: If I do away with the molded housing, can I carry a full sized spare tire in this location or will the heat from the exhaust damage the tire?? I've asked the dealer this question but they won't commit to an answer.
Personally, I do not like mini spares and have done away with them on all of my prior vehicles, but I'm concerned about this one due to the proximity of the exhaust.
Any help is appreciated.
