Lightbulb Replacing Cam Belt Tip

I watched an episode of Car S.O.S. today and was amazed to see Fuzz changing a cam belt on a Nissan Skyline without using any special tools. I don't know if this tip will work when changing a cam belt on a Voyager but this is what he did.
Without removing the cam belt, he cut along it's length using a Stanley knife, effectively making one wide belt into two narrow belts. He then removed the outer part of the belt, slipped the new belt onto the pulleys until it was touching the remaining half of the old belt, then he cut through the remaining half, removed it completely, then pushed the new belt all the way onto the pulleys.
Simple.

Great idea, hopefully someone will try it and let us know how it goes.

Nice. Preserves the timing at the same time.

I hardly ever bought Car Mechanics but I've still got copies of most of the magazines I used to buy when I was a lad.

Its like the one I put on here about marking the new belt to correspond with the old belt without using tools. People still prefer to do it the proper way even though its longer.
