Default Reverse Backup Switch Is This It.

For what I can only find on end of my 2003 CRD Grand Voyager manual gearbox, is this the reverse light switch viewed behind nearside suspension strut. And is there a special tool for removal as ring key too thick and socket no chance as no head room. Box spanner comes to mind.
Pic to follow.

Blast Richard can't you wait...Anyway its tool 8827 must be thin walled. Manual pic doesn't really show position unless taken from further away.
I should have bridged plug to see if it was switch at fault.

There's a Millar's 8827 tool, looks like a crow foot but closed as socket, £8 plus £16 carriage thou. All that's needed is a short 24mm box spanner.

Can you not just put a meter across the switch terminals to check for continuity while engaging reverse? (not wishing to sound like I'm trying to teach you a new egg sucking method )

Yes could have, but time is the problem and rain doesn't help. Was real happy that ABS fault is sorted. MOT this Friday and now working on rear brakes outside and its as I said, wet. Wife had a good answer to all this, I should have did it weeks ago...
Result so far: ABS sorted and with new discs and pads up front it stops too quickly.

Is the reversing light required by the M.O.T.?

Edit: Apparantly not: Getting through your MOT first time | Bathnes

That was on my mind AlanC, regarding MOT, but garage asked me last year after it got its MOT if I wanted the switch ordered. I replied I'd do it myself. Silly me.
Latvia has one for £24 but not sure if its the same so looking to take it off and possibly get number of it.

My reverse lights not working, could this be the cause?

Think I found a flaw on mine not working, well works now and again. Noticed the switch connector/plug was loose on the switch, ie, the female crimp connectors in the plug were needing a bit squeeze with a pair of pliers to make tight. Car just back from MOT so not had time to assess that issue. Will inform tomorrow.
So check your switch plug connector first before ordering new switch.
