Default sputtering Engine

help!!
I have a 08 town and country, with the 4.0 engine.
I have a problem with the car running at 30 mph to 50 where the engine has a sputter ( so to say). A full cup of coffee will spill in your hand ,it is so noticeable.
I had all spark plugs changed to new with the coils for each also.
A third mechanic now has found if the (ekg? ) valve is disconnected the car runs smooth. This valve returns unburned exhaust fumes back into the engine to be reburned.
Anyone have a fix?

EGR, or Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve.
I've blanked them off before on other cars, the only possible issue with that is it might cause the engine management light to come on. If he's disconnected it in some way, and there's no management light on, I'd just leave it.

I'm not sure to be honest, I suppose if the engine management light is on all the time, if another fault occurs, you may not notice it right away.

With my father in laws car, I fitted a plate bought off Ebay to blank off the EGR. This had a small hole in the centre of it, which keeps his engine management light out. It lets enough gasses through to keep the management light out.

His car wouldn't even start before it was blanked off.

Perhaps ask your mechanic if he's ever heard of an EGR being blanked off (it might be a UK thing), and if that would be an option.

Here's a link to show what sort of thing I'm meaning.
