Squealing noise in rear of van
My 2009 has a squealing noise coming from the rear it don't happen all the time but happens sometime slow or higher speeds. I was wondering if it could be there rear brakes dragging or maybe a caliper? If so how can I tell by inspection? I really can't afford to take it to the shop. Thanks David

Is the squeal the same at all speeds or does it change in volume or pitch? Do you feel anything through the bake pedal? Is the sound only on one side? (it is best to have a passenger be able to move around the back to see if there is a place where the sound is louder or appears to be coming from.)
Should I assume that you already have taken the wheels off to have a casual inspection for something obvious (like a piece of debris in the wheel)?

The handbrake shoes are notorious for binding on GVs, and making noises. You need to remove the disc/drums off the rears and examine everything. After repairs clean the spring clutches at bottom of handbrake with brake cleaner before adjusting the shoes.
Quinteq has written a brill. "how to" with servicing these drum brakes used for handbrake.
Leedsman.
Oh, BTW., also make sure the handbrake cables are well free. If the black plastic outer covering is damaged in any way, be suspicious, as once water gets in, the cable has had it.
