Question Stuck in low gear

2000 grand voyager 85K suddenly will not shift out of low gear. I had no warning of a fault but suddenly the Engine warning symbol has lit and I only have low gear. Drives OK in forward and reverse. Any suggestions? Preferably ones that don't involve big bucks!!!

without proper diagnostic equipment, it's a total guess. forsure I can tell you that your transmission is in 'limp-in' meaning that the computer cannot control the shifting so it gives up and stays in 2nd gear. You'll need to have a quality transmission tech analyze why this happened. could be as cheap as a $30 sensor or as expensive as a total rebuild. Watch out if they say it needs to be rebuilt. fixing this problem over the internet without sufficient information is IMPOSSIBLE. so you need to get more information inorder to sumize an accurate solution.

Thanks for the opinion. Much appreciated. Lets hope it's a sensor fault !!!
I'll get it checked out.
