Angry Torque Converter failure

Bought 2012 T&C in July 2016, 81k miles. Yesterday, took it in for a transmission service with 92k miles. The pan was full of metal. Still shifting ok, so torque converter is blowing it's brains out. Of course it is out of warranty and I didn't buy an extended warranty.
$3500 for a rebuild. Not happy right now.
I did take a closer look, it did come with 5/100k power train warranty.

Not a con. I saw the metal. Just a matter of time before it goes. Now it a matter of "When not If" it goes.

Both. Turns out I do have some power train warranty. And until Nov. And a lot of shiny sediment in the bottom of the pan.
