About a week ago noticed our turn signals not working. Took to where we normally have minor servcie done, non Chrysler dealer.

Prior to taking was quite sure not the bulbs since now had no lights on information panel and no sound of flasher working. Also the hazard warning lights would not come on. Looked at fuse. Seemed ok. Aslo noted in manual that the fuse also effects the back up lights.

Tech trouble shot, not sure exactly what but in end they said was fuse. Wife picked up van verified that the signasl worked. Within a mile with about 3 turns that required the sue of turn signals she called to say were not working again.

Thoughts on what might be the issue?

 

There probably is a shorted wire in the steering column, or someplace in between. It could also be a connector, but that's probably a long shot. It might also be in the wires going into the fuse box. The only way to tell is to trace the circuits with a volt/ohm meter and find the circuit that is shorting and then physically tracing the wires/connectors in that circuit. I might farm that job out to an auto-electric shop as they do that work everyday and have probably seen the same problem many times. In my experience, most auto mechanics would rather have a root canal done instead of doing electric testing work. It's not that hard a job, just time consuming, tedious, and you have to be able to read a wiring diagram.
