Default Voyager 2.5CRD - Snags!

Hi all,
I thought it would be a good idea to put a list together of "snags" people can expect from our "beloved" auto. Since June 2008, in no particular order, i have had the following done;

New rear main oil seal - basically, look for oil to the left hand side of the engine (as you look from the front) If the rockshield has been cut away around this area it is a dead give away

New clutch - See above - the oil from the flywheel contaminated the clutch

Info - I thought that replacing the clutch would cure a heavy gearchange from 1st to 2nd - It didnt. I now have a left arm like pop eye!!

Injectors - From about 110000 miles, even if you are not having problems with your fuel injectors, get them checked out - (look in the yellow pages for a local independant diesel specialist) The injectors are a known weak point. They cost £250 plus Vat each, if they have failed and have "welded" in the cylinder head you could have one big problem!

New ignition barrel - My key would come out in any position!

Air con regas - routine

Cam belt and tensioners - routine

Battery and four new tyres - routine

This car is a "labour of love", my wife and my 3 kids love the space but it does come at a big cost, if you can afford the car from new - happy days - if not be sure you have deep pockets. (i can neither afford one new, or do i have deep pockets!!) If i had my chance again i would have bought a VW Sharan, Seat Alambra, or a Ford Galaxy.

FYI including a purchase proce of £3450, i have spent around £5600 on the car..........i looked to PX last week against a £10000 VW sharan and was offered £1200!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Default RE: Voyager 2.5CRD - Snags!

all three, seat, vw and ford, are the same car.
only difference is the badge.

don't know if you tried them, but they will never get anywhere near voyager. they lack space, power, speed, they are not as confortable and are also expensive for maitananace.

90 HP TDI diesel engine is a lame cow in that car.
110 HP is better, but needs service on fuel pump and turbo regularly, which comes at a very high price.

2,0 liter gasoline is slow, 2,3 liter takes a lot of fuel.
and they are much more expensive as used cars. 8 years old voyager was 6 000 euro cheaper then 8 year old sharan.

sorry you had trouble with your car, but I never regreted buying it.
