Thermostat 97 Cirrus...Stant or Nippon?

Thermostat 97 Cirrus...Stant or Nippon?
I have to replace the thermostat in my 97 Cirrus. The auto store gave me a Stant thermostat and paper gasket. It looks nothing like the original Nippon thermostat with a rubber gasket.
Would the Stat thermo work or stay with the Nippon? Thank You.......
