Default 1978 carb available on LaBaron

Did the 318 in 1978 come with a 4 barrel carb on the LaBaron?

GLH60,
Thanks for the info. I have a 2 door restored 78. ALL was done from paint, interior, engine, trans and drive train.
Unfortunally I live in CA and the smog guy that our shop used for years said that the Edelbrock copy of the AFB will never pass smog. That was after I said I would re-jet it! Well, my son did all the mechanical work in his shop, nd we have all needed. Mills, lathes, exhaust benders and a brake lathe.
The car belonged to a Airforce high ranking man who's health went.
I couldn't see this car going because it was over seas with him and all re-done, so I bought it! 318 is fresh and strong, and I have 3 AFB carbs on the shelf. One is for a 383 and the other 2?
Just wondering if the smog guy is nuts? I have all in the shop and can rebuild the AFB, but why, Edelbrock carb is not to be on a engine to be smoged?
I was a Chevy mech and a GM guy, but the 78 La Baron is great.
Thanks again, I was able to fly in the airlines and about every one in Holley wood, Also the president for 8 years. All that was to keep my shop open. Had to keep my nails clean and bandage (with explination) why the bandage!

Pres Ford and Betty. ^ Months before his death. Got to fly all the mucktemucks from all over the world, but now am known as the best A6 comp man for restoration/rebuild and cosmetics.

It would be beneficial to see what the current smog numbers are and where the 'fail' is in order to address the specific issues.

Please consider posting your question on 'allpar.com'; for one they would love to see your ride. There is a significant number of members heavy into restoration and with the knowledge there, I believe they would be able to get you to pass the smog check with your current carb or tell you specifically why it won't pass and what your options are.

Right on.

This is the basic style intake but it's from a 1971 340 without EGR provision.

Note the small primary's and large secondary's

This is the Q jet pattern adopted by others.

Thanks
Randy

ggoose,
Thanks, That's what I need to know.
About the smog in CA, guy was the one we sent cars to from the shop customers. He took a look, and said "Edelbrock, no way".
Also, it has over 1,000.00 in penalties because it was not on a non op!
Car belonged to a friend that loved it and never got to drive it after restoration. I just couldn't see this fresh car go, so I bought it.

Yes, that looks like a Q jet, but I remember having a plastic body carb with the small and large that came from a Chrysler product back then.
