Default 93 concord problems

My 93 concord has a few issues but the most problematic are a substantial shudder at or around 40 MPH and the AC compressor shuts off for no reason (as best I can tell).
The shudder seems only to be at low power settings such as a very slight uphill grade while maintaining city speeds. Back out of the gas and it goes away. Does any one have an idea what the issue here is?
The AC has a good charge. I don’t remember the numbers but it is in the high side of the acceptable range. I suspect the electronic temp controls. Are there any dangers with putting a remote switch so I can bypass the electronic control unit?

It's all dangerous to an extent.. and no, ghetto rigging the A/C should be fine... rotate the tires, and make sure they have equal air in them...
