97 Dodge Interpid engine help please
Hello all.....I have a "new to me" Dodge interpid 3.3. I just had a junkyard motor put in it....we started it up and there was a clacking noise. We suspected it was lifter noise....so we replaced the rocker shaft and rockers (both sides) but the noise is still there.....it is louder when the car is warm...and is only audible at low rpm.....we are thinking it is a piston slap.....I do not want to get in to tearing the engine apart as it would cost too much cash. Is there anything else I could do? Engine additive? thicker oil? Thank you all for your help. I hope this place is as much help to me as my other forum is for my Saturn.

Trying to help with engine noises over the internet can be very hard to do. If you suspected the lifters to be noisy, why would you waste the money, time and effort replacing the rockers and shafts? Very unlikely the noise would be a piston slap,as that noise will get quieter as the engine heats up. Did the salvage yard you got the engine from not give you any warrenty?
