98 Sebring Convertile Running Issues!
I have a 1998 Sebring convertible.
There is a history on this car of issues.
127K Miles.
Trouble code chasing was the theme for a while however stalling and misfires are the overall issue with no power. Originally when you stepped on the gas it dogged big time. Fuel economy was non existant.
When I received the car I was told that the previous folks checked the catalytic converter but I am not so sure.
This car has had the timing belt, distributor, cranks sensor, map sensor, wires, pcm changed.
So as you can see I have gone around the mountain a bit.
After getting it home recently I went outside with the car at idle and started reving it and all of a sudden it started running properly for about 20-30 seconds and then returned to the previous condition. I was able to repeat this. The next day I went outside and starter the car, it ran perfect for a little while and then startedrunning like garbageagain.
I looked underneath the car and saw that the exhaust right below the catalytic converter was cherry red.
Today I started the car cold and it ran perfect.
Is it me or does this sound like the catalytic converter?
Someone told me that a poor fule burning condition will cause this issue?
