Hi

I have for some time had some problems with the breaks getting extremely hot, indicating they're sticking to some extent. Sometimes one wheel, sometimes all four. I have not been able to find any problems with the calipers anywhere, even taken a couple apart completely. So now I have taken the master cylinder and the ABS module out. Master cylinder seems ok, but I wonder about the ABS module.

When I try to blow through the different connections, one is really easy, which is what I expected, and one is a lot harder though I still manage to blow some air through it.

I wonder if anyone else has had similar issues or have any info or comments to this. Is it common problem even? Haven't found anything specific while searching.

I would also be very intrested in knowing if it is possible to actuate the solenoids manually on the bench, and if so, how it is done. This would help a lot in fault finding.

the abs module and lines going to it are not in use until an abs condition is present like wheels skidding other then that they are separate. Year make model engine size would be nice to know what you are working on to.

It is a Town & Country 2008 with the 2.8CRD diesel engine.

The ABS module is located between the master cylinder and the calipers. The primary and secondary lines from the master cylinder goes directly to the hydraulic block of the ABS module, and from the block there's one line to each caliper. I am thus suspecting the hydraulic block to be the cause of the problem. As far as I have understood it is the same ABS module in different models, and even in different makes the ABS modules are very much alike.

I took a look in my other car, a Jaguar X-Type, and the ABS module in that one looks extremely alike, even though it even seems to be a different brand on the ABS module. So I was expecting a probable issue with the module to be similar with different models, makes and engines. (The engine really isn't involved at all with the brake system, functional wise).

I am planning to make some tests on the Jaguar ABS-module later today, to see how that one works compared to the Chrysler one, to see if that can shed some light on the issue.

Check your hoses. I had a hose on a Plymouth Voyager somehow get clogged. Made one brake drag something fierce. Replaced the hose and solved the problem.

 

Hoses checked out ok, unfortunately, it would have been an easy fix

ABS is the same on US and European spec models.

 

I need help with something, first time posting, Is there a place to buy a brake line that runs from the master cylinder to the ABS module. I have a 2004 sebring convertible. Seems that this is hard to find, can anybody offer any feedback? Thank you.

 

I had same problem with my brake hose. I rebuilt all the calipers with new rubber seals etc and same problem. Brake fluid comes out of hose but not enough i found, so changed hose and everything is perfect now. 2006 Sebring.
