This car, 1997 Sebring Convertible JXi, is my daughter Kates, it was supposed to keep us from driving ourselves nuts going to dance, young life, cheering etc, etc, etc. Well this week she drove off the road into a ditch and hit a driveway culvert and ripped off the right front wheel and bent the fender. The airbags deployed. I know I can get the airbags online or at the salvage yard, (prefer the local salvage yard as I know what vehicle they came out of). What all do I need to watch out for in replacing them? I know I need the bag units, controller and the wires that lead to the bag detonator. How many sensors are on these cars and where are they and how do I check and see if they reset?
I know your supposed to get this done at a dealer, but for them to do it would be more than the car is worth. And we DO like this car.
