Default Data Saver

This weekend i plan to install the fog light kit on my pacifica but i don't wanna loose the data in the computer since i just did a oil change a few weeks ago.i got this tool that saves the data by plugging into the cigarette lighter attached to a 9v battery which works on other cars but i was told it doesn't work on Chrysler because they use a higher voltage to power the computer? i dunno if it is true and i didn't find out if it works yet but does any one know if it does or the proper way to save the data? any help would be great.

I would really be careful about putting a high voltage to any of my computer modules. You could unwittingly remove all the programing from every module on there. When we go in and reprogram your computer for an update we send a high voltage spike to it which will cause the computer to forget just about everything. I dont believe you'll lose anything by installing the foglights.

If you plan your job well you can minimize the amount of time you'll need to have the battery disconnected, thereby minimizing the risk of losing your data. However, if you lose data during this process, your Pacifica will forgive you, and will simply relearn everything it needs to when you start her (or him) up again.

Can't you just pull the fuse in the circuit you are tapping into for the fog lights?
