engine information. the 2.7 has had a lot of problems since the start. there have been tons of changes over it's life. Tensioner, oil passages just to name a few. IMHO it is the worst peice of junk chrysler ever made. even worse than the 41TE trans when it first came out (which is another thing they made with a lot of flaws---but I digress). Chrysler use to be known for building nearly indestructable engines... 318, slant 6, 3.3/3.8. even the 2.2/2.5 were pretty rugged.

the 3.5 radically changed from the gen1 LH cars to the Gen2. I don't know of any interchangeabilites between them.

1. There is a mod that can be done to alleviate the sludge problem.

2. Is it worth swapping the engine to another 2.7.

3. Is there a different engine that can swap with the 2.7 i.e 3.1, 3.5 or another as a quick change assembly.

I would like to be able to get engine, pull out old, and immediately put in new.

Just a thought.

Thanks in advance.
To do a 2.7 swap to a 3.2 or 3.5 is not a difficult task at all!! I'm currently working on my 3rd one right now in a 2000 Dodge Intrepid. There is a complete list of everything need to do the swap successfully....much cheaper route to go then dropping another 2.7 in the car. Years for motor swaps 98-01....02-04. Here's a thread on the motor i'm working on: http://www.dodgeintrepid.net/forums/t171387/
