Default metal shavings in gas???

Currently we are replacing a fuel pump on our 05 town and country. We found that there is tons of metal shavings in the filter and in the tank. I have no idea where they could be coming from. So what should we do about it? And how harmful is this going to be on the engine?

only metal in the tank would be from the fuel pump itself

[QUOTE=CHRYSLER TECH;90936]only metal in the tank would be from the fuel pump itself[/QUOTE ah I see. Is there any chance of further damage? We are all ready to reinstall the tank

Could have been a bad load of fuel. Nothing you can do about that now.

Be thankful that the filter did its job.
