2,0i 16V 1996 Neon SE SN7C/264

Key dance => Turn key ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON within 5 seconds.

Calculate how many time SERVICE ENGINE-light flashes.

I got: 1 flash-pause-2 flashes-pause-2 flashes-pause-1 flash-5 flashes-pause-5 flashes... those two 5 flashes are code 55 meaning End of Codes.

Does this help?

If those are OBD I codes, then the "12" simply means that the battery has been disconnected sometime within the last 50 times that the key has been turn to "on". For obvious reasons, that code will go away by itself eventually.

The "21" indicates a problem with an oxygen sensor. The "check engine light" should be on with that one.

Hooking up a scanner to get all available codes is a good plan. Start there.
