Default Trunk light switch?

Can anyone tell me where the trunk light switch is on a 97 Sebring coupe?
As far as I can tell, all the fuses are good, the bulb is new, but the light does not come on.... period.

Sometimes it would be nice to see what I'm looking for!

My book is more-than-useless in tracking down something they seem to forget is there.

ANY/all help would be appreciated!

It's probably built into the release mechanism in the latch. On the sedan/convertible, it activates the "deck" signal in the odometer readout when the trunk is not latched. Not sure about the Coupe but one would think it might be similar.

The owners manual does not show a reference to a deck light in the panel...

Anyone else see this 'problem'?

If you have access to a Haynes manual, look on page 12-56. There's a wiring diagram there that shows the trunk light being controlled by a switch called "trunk lid latch switch" making me believe it's built into the latch as stated above. Power is on the same line as The rear interior "personal lights" and the switch in the latch controls the ground. So if your rear interior "personal" lights work, try jumpng the pink wire from the trunk light to ground. If that turns the light on, then you know the problem is between the light and ground, which includes the switch in the latch.

Page 12-55 shows the system for earlier coupe modes. It's similar in principle but the wire to check is red/green, not pink.

Try taking out the latch and testing it. If it's good, then the problem is with the ground. If the latch switch is bad, you'll need to fix it or replace it. Finding the replacement part could be a challenge.

You're sure the bulb is good, right?
