2.5L convertiblw, 2000, 95,000
I have finally registered and hope to get some feedback on a frustrating issue. EVERYONE, everywhere has this problem with this vehicle, but I have yet to find, after days, weeks of research, THE ANSWER. Is today the day? My mechanic has been working on this for 4 days (finally found one that was willing to spend days on this issue, and now he's stumped too.) Accelerates like a champ. after 10 minutes, she hesitates. Computer shows it's missing on all 6cyl at some point, but no reason why. Yes, new timing belt, yes, double-checked for proper teeth alignment after install (again) Yes, 2 new distributors, 1st one was supposedly OEM, 2nd one from junkyard. New Plugs, Head gaskets, wires. I have driven it doing this for 18 months, never failed to get me from point A or B, just annoying hesitation keeps her off the interstate & going over 50 mph, it becomes nuts...Thanks for your time!
Finally picked up car today from my mechanic (2000 2.5L Sebring Convert). Yup, exhausted ALL avenues and the result was "90% sure it's in the computer". I opted at this time not to go the computer route as I am now out $1,000 trying to diagnose the hesitation at 220rpms/Misfire codes on all cylinders. It still has THE POWER back and drives like a dream, just can't drive over 50mph for any length of time, just 49 and under comfortably. Should I go for the computer and a "flash" ? Approx cost is $400.
($300 for comp/$100 for flash). Going to wait and save more $$ up and keep searching for the ANSWER: will_it_run? Thanks everybody for any suggestions!
