Angry 2006 Sebring Radiator fans quit working

Hi all. 2006 Sebring, 4 door sedan, with 2,4l motor.

I have come across an issue thats making me pull hair out. Im a diy'er mechanic so not SUPER familiar but I can get around ok and do all my own maintenacne.

Recently been having issues with car getting hot on hot days and found out the cooling fans aren't working.

So I have since replaced the High side fan relay, the Low side fan relay, the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor, the thermostat itself, and then today replaced the 20A blade fuse and the 40A "J-Case?" fuse i think its called. The 30A fuse definitely looked blown so I was hoping that was it...Still no life from the damned fan. Is it time to realize the fan itself is dead and needs replaced?

I recently had the ac compressor replaced and thats when I started having issues so I wasnt sure if the mechanic knocked something loose or not...?? But it appears everything is connected, im thinking its just coincidental timing?

Anyone have any ideas at all? Im at my wit's end here...??

The cooling fans are not supposed to work all the time. They only come on when certain conditions are met and the computer decides they are needed. Check for voltage at the fan motor when the car begins to overheat. If there's voltage there but the motors don't turn, then the fan motor(s) is (are) bad.

Hi thanks for the reply. Yes I know this. I should have said im not a compete newbie

I have since this post, disconnected the fans from the cars electrical and ran them manually to test working or not. Apparently the radiator main fan works fine when current is sent to it but the smaller one will not. Then the next day I get a check engine light which shows rad fan 1 as bad so i had the aprts store reset it in hopes it might have somehow made the fan start working in case was a computer glitch but no such luck.

My question now is....If the computer reads that the fan is bad is that a reson the AC compressor wont fully engage to make cold air? And since the larger main rad fan does work I now assume its a computer issue thats not triggering it to come on in the first place?

Do you know whether you are getting voltage at the fans when they should be getting voltage? If not, then it may be a computer issue. Since the computer is a more expensive repair, make sure you've done all the cheaper repairs first.

Low speed fan should come on with engine coolant temperature above 219°F, high speed fan above 230°F, A/C off.
With A/C on, low speed fan should come on above 210°F, high speed above 230°F.

Transmission fluid temperature is also monitored.

I believe the fan operation is controlled by the condition of the compressor (engaged or not, certain head pressures), not the other way around.

Believe it or not it popped a CEL on a few days agoo. SO I had auto store clear it. Just took car to the bank and wqhile sitting in line it automaticlaly turned on(The main rad fan) larger one.

I have no idea how or why. I kow the smaller on is bad because I jumped it to the battery directly and no power nothing so my guess is its bad.

SO y questions are:

Why is the fan being intermittent functionality?

And, will AC not work at all, like get clold, unless the smaller secondary fan is working?

The fans come on at the temperatures specified. They are turned off when the coolant temperature drops back down due to the fan(s) coming on. So intermittent fan operation is what is supposed to happen.

I suspect your A/C problems are unrelated to the fans. As I said, the fans' operation is controlled by what the A/C is doing. The A/C, to my knowledge, is NOT controlled by what the fans are doing. If you turned on the A/C with a cool engine, the fans would not be expected to be working but the A/C should come on when you turn it on. The fans would not come on until the engine temperature exceeded the values stated. So the A/C should be working before the fans are needed. You should look for another reason as to why the A/C is not working. Start with the refrigerant charge level.
