2011 Chrysler 200 Front Crossmember/Subframe Isolator Replacement
Hello, I have been having a problem with my 2011 Chrysler 200 Touring. I have had a clunking sound coming from the front end for time now. The clunking sound only happens when going over small potholes, bumps. The sound comes from both ends, passenger and drivers side. The sound comes, not from the edge of the car where the struts are located, but more below the steering wheel and the glove compartment; which is what made me think it was the isolators. I have replaced, on both sides, the sway bar bushing, Lower control arm (along with ball joint), and struts. I checked the sway bar link and the bushing are still good. There is no vibrations in the car that would tell me the engine mounts are bad, so I’m assuming it is not the engine mounts.
I have found the crossmember/subframe isolator and that’s the next thing I will be replacing in hopes of resolving the problem. Does anyone know if I will have to drop the whole crossmember/subframe in order to replace the isolator or can it be done while still on the car as the bolts for the isolator are visible and accessible? And does anyone have torque specs for the isolator bolt?
Thank You
