How times have changed
I'm not necessarily a new member here, but I have recently purchased a new (to me) 2017 Chrysler Pacifica, and encountered something that I find to be very curious, if not downright sneaky. Once upon a time it was considered to be a good idea to resist any car sales pitch that tried to get you to buy a factory stereo because better after markets units were readily available and for much less money. Now, if you buy a car with factory stereo, and if it is a Chrysler product, you are in a trap. There is no alternative to that unit, and no upgrade or option. Because the UConnect system incorporates HVAC and Navigation and so many other features within one unit, nobody is offering any aftermarket products to replace this. Now, that would not have been a problem if not for the teeny, tiny 5" display screen in my Pacifica! I can't visualize what the backup camera is showing! It's too small! I can't swap out the unit for a larger screen because the cost is prohibitively high! Nearly two thousand dollars to upgrade from a 5 to the 8.4" screen. I wish I had known this when I bought the vehicle. Maybe I should take advantage of CarMax's 30 day no questions asked return policy? (Don't mind me. Just looking to vent).
