Newbie Question-98 Concorde Alarm Issue
I found this forum, and I was wondering if someone could give me some guidance. Very LONG story short, bought a 1998 Concorde. Battery Dead, and hadnt started for 4+months. Jumped it, got it started, and after it died, could not get it restarted. Turn key, and all I got was clicking, horn, lights going off, etc. Pulled the relay and that stopeed the horn! It had an aftermarket alarm system in it, and I removed it, still no start. Replaced battery, as it was tired, still no start.
Read through the forums, and did the passenger door lock/unlock, and the car starts!!! WOO HOO!
Here are my questions....
I think the fob was for the aftermarket alarm system, even though there is the red light in the middle of the dash on top. So my guess is that it does have some sort of factory alarm. When I did the passenger door lock/unlock did I disarm the system or reset it?
If I use only the key from now on, do I need to worry about the alarm system in the future?
If I want to use the factory alarm system, is it a matter of getting a new FOB from Chrysler, and it will learn the codes?
Thanks in advance, and hope someone can help. Lastly, thanks for posting the door lock/unlock tip!

Not quite sure what you are saying here. If you have one remote that works, you can program a second one yourself. If you do not have one, you can get one from a chrysler dealer but they will charge you to program it.
If you have one gray key, you cannot program another one yourself. If you have two gray keys that work, you can program a third yourself.
Instructions for all of the above are in the owners manual, available from chrysler.com or, with a little luck, on eBay.
