What was the condition of the fluid before it was changed?
Was it really dirty looking?
My dads Cadillac had that problem, and he also had the pump changed, but the new pump also did it.
Problem turned out to be that the fluid was heavily contaminated and it left particles that were keeping the valves open.
The system needed to be flushed to clear it out.

The fluid was abit grubby but not majorly.....I cleaned out everything except the steering rack and made sure it ran clear when I reconnected it to the cooler.

Have you disconnected the battery since the pump was replaced?
These cars are controlled so much by the computers, that it may still be operating under old data.
It can't hurt (much) to try it.
