My 2000 chrysler cirrus is running rough and the check engine light is on (not flashing). I stopped at Auto Zone for a diagnostic and was told that Cylinder 3 is misfiring. Ok, I know nothing about engines so I was wondering if someone could explain this for me, so that I know what I'm talking about when I take in into the garage for repair. Thanks!

 

U tell them check engine light is on and car runs rough that's it.

 

Thank you for replying to my post. I do realize I would tell them what the symptoms are, but I just wanted to be a little informed and have an intellegent conversation with them.

 

Not to sound like an *** but this will be lol Who u talk to are noting but a service writer a person who wrights down what U say and then take it back it to a tech in the back. It wont matter if u tell them the Flux capacitor is broken most of the time they have no idea about how to fix a car. U tell them what I said the tech will do his job U hope then U will get a call from your buddy up front and tell u what it will need to be fixed and along with what ever else they find wrong w the car at the time aka brakes tires fluids whats ever.

The service station is still trying to figure out what's going on, they say that the diagnostic code on these 2.5l engines could mean many things. I was hoping it was the spark plug/wire on cylinder 3, but no such luck. They now recommend replacing the crank sensor and distributor, costing $1,000. Sure hope this works, I've put so much money in this car.

 

what is the codes?

 

Everyone keeps saying a misfire on cylinder 3, that's it.

 

In the mean time I'm so mad, your mobile service is right here in Atlanta, I'm in Kennesaw, and I wish I would have contacted you for my repairs. Oh well, I'm sure something else will come up and I will call you for help.
