Convertible frame broke
The roof frame scissor mechanism on the driver side of a 98 Conv. roof broke. Chrysler does not sell part and won't tell me what part number is or how to identify it so I can get new part. help.

The part number will be of no help if the dealer doesn't carry the part. Generally speaking, they don't carry parts for cars that are more than 10 years old, but may carry a part for a later model that might fit.
The convertible tops were basically the same until 2006, so there's a chance that your part might be the same as a later model and might yet be available.
If you can remove the old part, bring it to the dealership and ask the parts guy to see if he can find it on parts diagrams for a later model.
Failing that, search junkyards or the internet (eBay) where you might find someone parting out a car. You might have to buy the whole frame mechanism.
