Default no start 2001 sebring with 2.5

New to forum and trying to solve a no start problem with my 89 sebring. It use to turn over but not start. I have replaced the fuel pump twice cuz it did stop working once. Now it wont start at all. I did have it at least turning over but it wont try to start now. It has a2.5 motor and a bad oil leak from the back of motor. Not sure if it was damaged the distributor or not yet. Everything I have read so far on here has said distributor. Even tho the computer has been reflashed once before. I am being told to go get it flashed again.

flashing a pcm only upgrades software bug fixes not solve a no start issue.
The distributor assembly is more then likely your issue

The title of your thread mentions a 2001 Sebring. The body of your post calls it an 89 Sebring. Elsewhere you called it a convertible. The 2001 Sebring convertible had a 2.7L v-6 option, the 2.5 was not offered. There was no '89 Sebring. The 2.7 L engine in the 2001 Sebring did not have a distributor.

Start with figuring out which year your car is and which engine you have. That will help you search for a solution to your problem.

sorry, it was a late night when I started the thread. The car is a 99 sebring with a 2.5. I have been going thru some threads and a lot of no starts with some late 90's and early 2000's. Is it easier to do distributor with intake off?
