Hmm, would a short in a CANBUS carrying cable not cause the system to malfunction and potentially go into fault?
Reason I say that is another forum poster just posted similar (his dash goes crazy too though) and he found water damage in the driver side blind spot sensor which is connected into the bus network and as we know a bit of water, a grounded connection, etc, could cause a whole heap of strange behaviour.

Its both . The fan shuts off and stops blowing all together .tried with the heat on too . Same thing . Yesterday it went haywire . Dash going off and on . Dinging. Wipers went on . When looking at the fuses , they were really really hot . Granted it's hot out and the sun beating down on the car . But the tipm was really not to the touch . Couldn't take fuses out because they were so hot
